Cookie Policy

Grover’s websites (“Platform”) use cookies and similar technologies such as web beacons (i.e. pixel tags or clear GIFs), and SDKs to use shopping carts and to personalize your experience on our sites, inform us which parts of our websites that visitors have visited, help us measure the effectiveness of ads and web searches, and provide us with insights into user behaviour so we can improve our communications and products.

We also share information on your use of our website with our social media, advertising and analytics partners. You can read more about any of our purposes or the vendors that we use in the Cookie Preference Center, which is accessible at any time through the ‘Cookie Settings’ button located on every page.

When you visit any website, it may store or retrieve information using your browser, mostly in the form of cookies. This information might be personal information about you, your preferences or your device and is mostly used to make the site work as you expect it to. The information does not usually directly identify you, but it can give you a more personalised web experience.

What technologies are used?

Our website uses the following kinds of technologies:

Cookies.

A cookie is a small piece of data (text file) that a website – when visited by a user – asks your browser to store on your device in order to remember information about you, such as your language preference or login information. Those cookies are set by us and are called first party cookies. We also use third-party cookies for our advertising and marketing initiatives.

Cookies are used for various purposes, such as allowing the user to navigate between pages seamlessly, implementing the user’s preferences and improving their overall browsing experience, by customising the website according to their navigation and user profile as a Grover customer. They can also help ensure that the adverts seen online by the user are more relevant to them and their interests.

Our website uses several types of cookies which have different durations.

Session cookies last only for the duration of a browsing session and facilitate your experience on our website.

Persistent cookies last for more than one visit and memorize your preferred settings regarding our website.

These cookies can also be categorized as first party and third party cookies, depending on who sets them on our website.

First party cookies are supplied by the publisher of the website you are visiting, so that it functions properly.

Third party cookies are set on the website by third parties, and are intended to collect data in different ways and for several purposes, for example: collection of analytics data and information on social interactions and behaviours, and also for promotional activities. You can read more about the third party cookies that we use in the Cookie Preference Center, which is accessible at any time through the ‘Cookie Settings’ button located on every page.

Pixel Tags.

Pixel tags (also known as web beacons) are small blocks of code installed on our website and online services which enable our online partners to serve cookies when you visit our website and online services and are generally used in combination with cookies to track activity user on our website and online services, receive relevant log data and cookie data, and perform other activities relating to the monitoring and analysis of the use and performance of our website and online services.

Software Development Kits.

Software development kits (also called SDKs) function like third-party cookies and pixel tags, but operate in the mobile app environment where cookies and pixel tags cannot function as effectively. Instead of using cookies and pixels tags, we may install pieces of code (the SDK) provided by our online partners (such as advertising companies, ad networks, and analytics providers) in our mobile apps for these online partners to monitor and analyze the use and performance of our mobile apps and services.

What categories of cookies are on our website?

The types of cookies used on our website serve various purposes and can be categorized as follows:

Strictly Necessary Cookies.

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. Based on Article 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR, we use these strictly necessary cookies:

  • to identify you as being logged in to the website and to authenticate you;

  • to make sure you connect to the right service on the website when we make any changes to the way it works;

  • for the effective functioning of our services, such as tracking fraudulent activity and behaviour.

We do not use these required cookies for range analysis, tracking or advertising purposes. You can set your browser to inform you about the placement of cookies. This makes the use of cookies transparent for you. You can also delete cookies at any time using the appropriate browser setting and prevent the setting of new cookies. Please note that our web pages may not be able to be displayed and some functions may no longer be available for technical reasons.

Functional Cookies.

These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages.

These cookies support additional functionality that enhances our website. They are used to remember user location, chosen language or other settings to provide a personalised user experience on our website. Other examples of functional cookies include chat services and user preferences.

The data processing is based on your consent in accordance with Article 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR or Section 25 para. 1 Telecommunications Telemedia Data Protection Act (Telekommunikation-Telemedien-Datenschutz-Gesetz, TTDSG), if you have given your consent via our banners. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.

Performance and Analytics Cookies.

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and then anonymous.

In addition, we use the following functions in the context of visitor measurement:

  • We enrich the aggregated data with additional data provided by third parties. In this way, we are able to record demographic characteristics of our visitors, e.g. statements on age, gender and place of residence.

  • We use a recognition method that allows us to capture and subsequently evaluate the mouse pointer movement of our visitors.

The data processing is based on your consent in accordance with Article 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR or Section 25 para. 1 TTDSG, if you have given your consent via our banners. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

In the following, we will name the third-party providers with whom we work in connection with visitor measurement. If the data is processed outside the EU or EEA in this context, please note that there is a risk that authorities may access the data for security and monitoring purposes without you being informed or having the right to appeal. If we use providers in insecure third countries and you give your consent, the transfer to a third country is based on Art. 49 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.

i) Provider = Google LLC (USA)

Maximum storage period: 2 years

Adequate level of data protection: No adequate level of data protection. The data is transmitted on the basis of Art. 49 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.

ii) Provider = Amplitude, Inc. (USA)

Maximum storage period: As long as necessary

Adequate level of data protection: No adequate level of data protection. The data is transmitted on the basis of Art. 49 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.

Revocation of consent: If you wish to revoke your consent, please scroll to the bottom of our website, click on "Cookie settings" and make the appropriate setting via our banner.

Profiling and Targeting Cookies.

We use cross-device tracking technologies to help us display targeted advertising on other websites based on your visit to our websites and to help us determine how effective our advertising efforts have been.

These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

We also engage in affiliate marketing, which is done by embedding tracking links into the website. If you click on a link for an affiliate partnership, a cookie will be placed on your browser to track any sales for commission payments. The purpose of storing this data is to process commission payments between the advertiser and us as an affiliate, which are processed via the affiliate network.

The data processing is based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR or Section 25 para. 1 TTDSG, if you have given your consent via our banner. Your consent is voluntary and can be revoked at any time.

How does the tracking work?

When you visit our websites, it is possible that the third party providers listed on our Cookie List below call up recognition features for your browser or terminal device (e.g. a so-called browser fingerprint), evaluate your IP address, store or read recognition features on your terminal device (e.g. cookies) or gain access to individual tracking pixels.

The individual features can be used by the third-party providers to recognize your end device on other Internet sites. We may commission the relevant third-party providers to place advertisements based on the pages visited on our site.

What does cross-device tracking mean?

If you log on to the third-party provider with your own user data, the respective recognition features of different browsers and end devices can be linked with each other. For example, if the third-party provider has created a separate recognition feature for the laptop, desktop PC, smartphone or tablet you are using, these individual features can be assigned to each other as soon as you use a third-party service with your login data. This allows the third party to target our advertising campaigns across multiple devices.

Which third-party providers do we use in this context?

We name the third party providers with whom we work for advertising purposes on the Cookie List below.

If the data is processed outside the EU or EEA in this context, we ensure that:

  • an adequacy decision on the European Commission is applicable or

  • that Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) are in place between Grover and the provider.

If the data is transferred to the US, according to the data protection authorities, there is nevertheless a risk that your data will be processed by authorities, for control and for monitoring purposes, without you being informed or having the right to appeal. With your consent to the use of cookies, you also agree, that your data may be processed in the US and in other countries outside the EU or EEA despite this risk (Art. 49 para 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR).

Please refer to our privacy policy (see Section 6) for more information on the data processing outside the EU.

Revocation of consent: If you wish to withdraw your consent, please scroll to the bottom of our website, click on the "Cookie Settings" and make the appropriate setting via our banner.

Do we collect your personal data and share it through cookies?

Some of our cookies may collect and store your personal data, such as your name, email address or IP address. We are committed to respecting and protecting your privacy and will ensure that personal data we collect is kept and treated in accordance with our privacy policy. For further details of how we process personal data, please refer to our privacy policy.

We may share such information through cookies with third parties such as social networks or advertising platforms, as well as other companies within Grover, advertising agencies/providers and IT providers (e.g. hosting providers), with your consent where required.

How to customize your cookie settings?

You can change your cookie settings by going to the Cookie Preference Centre by clicking on the "Cookie Settings" button at the bottom of this policy. However, blocking some types of cookies may affect your experience of the site and the services we are able to offer.

Please note that if you completely disable cookies from the browser, some of our website functionalities might be lost, for example, normal browsing of the site and purchasing activity, while any personalized activity such as the advertising you receive when you visit this website will not be tailored to your interests.

If you use multiple browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.), you must repeat this procedure for each one, and if you connect to the web from multiple devices (e.g. from work and at home), then you will need to set your preferences on each browser on each device.
